After you or another volunteer has put the tack on, you would have checked that it all fits properly and is all secure. However, after you have warmed up the horse they would have relaxed and some of the fittings may have changed. This will especially be the case for the girth and the saddle.
If the girth has loosened whilst warming up, the saddle may have moved so take this time to re-adjust the saddle and tighten the girth back up again. To tighten the girth, you should be able to fit four fingers in-between the horses side and the girth. There should be some movement of the girth when you do this but not too much that would cause the saddle to slip.
If you are not sure if the saddle is straight or secure on the horses back, please ask your Coach to check before the mounting and riding starts.
Once these steps have been completed, you are ready to start the session.
